To #LGRW:
Alex DeBrincat
To #GoSensGo:
2024 Conditional 1st (DET or BOS)
2024 4th Rd Pick
Dominik Kubalik
Donovan Sebrango
Detroit sent a conditional first-round pick and a fourth-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft, plus winger Dominik Kubalik and defenseman Donovan Sebrango, in exchange for DeBrincat.
Oddly enough, DeBrincat and Kubalik were teammates with the Chicago Blackhawks for three seasons until the the two parted ways last offseason. Roughly a year later, they're headed in opposite directions in the same trade.
Regarding the 2024 first-rounder included in the deal, the Red Wings can send their own selection or the Boston Bruins' pick next year to the Senators. If the Bruins' pick falls within the top 10 picks, though, Boston can retain the choice, which would become unprotected in 2025.
After giving up a decent haul to acquire DeBrincat, the Red Wings paid him handsomely. His four-year extension, which begins in 2024-25, nets DeBrincat a $7.87M AAV. Following the first season of the deal, a no-movement clause kicks in, including a 16-team trade list, per Cap Friendly.

For DeBrincat, a Farmington Hills, Michigan, native, going to the Red Wings is a homecoming of sorts. In his one and only season in Ottawa, DeBrincat posted 66 points (27 goals, 39 assists) while suiting up for all 82 regular season games.
So, it's safe to say the Red Wings added a competent scorer who may be just entering his prime.
