Bruins' David Pastrnak dealt with lingering lower-body injury throughout playoffs

The Boston Bruins were eliminated by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs this week, and Bruce Cassidy revealed a few members of his squad were dealing with various injuries throughout the postseason.

Most notably, Cassidy said that David Pastrnak was dealing with a lingering lower-body injury throughout the playoffs, according to 98.5 The Sports Hub's Ty Anderson.

The co-Rocket Richard winner likely suffered the injury during the Bruins' first-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes. When he was celebrating Patrice Bergeron's Game 1 overtime-winning goal, Pastrnak could be seen hunching over in pain.

Still, Pastrnak tallied 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 10 playoffs games and was one of Boston's more impressive players throughout their stay in the NHL's Toronto bubble.

Cassidy also identified other injuries, including Tuukka Rask's finger injury, Nick Ritchie's undisclosed injury, Sean Kuraly's lower-body injury and Chris Wagner's undisclosed injury. He also added that Zdeno Chara had an X-ray on his foot after blocking a shot during Game 5.

After making it to the Stanley Cup Final in 2019, the Bruins took a step backward in 2020. Boston has plenty of work to do this offseason and quite a few players to sign, but general manager Don Sweeney surely will have his squad prepared for another shot at the Stanley Cup next year.
