Giants QB Tommy DeVito Has Hilarious Comment About Eagles Fans
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito is preparing to get his first taste of Philadelphia Eagles fans next week, as the Giants will be battling the Eagles on Christmas Day.

Philadelphia fans are notorious for being harsh on opponents (heck, on their own players, too), but DeVito does not seem intimidated going into the matchup.

When asked about how he will respond to the hostile Philly crowd at Lincoln Financial Field, DeVito took the high road.

“I’ll say Merry Christmas,” DeVito said, via Tom Rock of Newsday.

Due to injuries to Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor, DeVito was named New York’s starting quarterback in Week 9. To say it has been a wild ride for the youngster since that would be putting it lightly.

In six appearances and five starts, DeVito has thrown for 1,032 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 64.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 91.5. In addition, he has carried the ball 35 times for 194 yards and a score. He has gone 3-2.

DeVito, who played his collegiate football at Syracuse, went undrafted but signed to the Giants’ practice squad earlier this season.

The 25-year-old was pressed into action in Week 8, when Taylor went down with an injury against the New York Jets (Jones was already sidelined). DeVito only threw seven passes in that game as Big Blue put its trust in the run game, but in the time since, the Giants have turned DeVito loose.

DeVito is a Livingston, N.J. native and grew up a Giants fan, so the New York faithful has embraced the signal-caller with open arms in what is essentially a lost season.

Whether or not the Giants will get behind Tommy DeVito as their quarterback moving forward remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: he has given Big Blue fans something to get excited about in an otherwise disastrous season.

New York is 5-9 heading into its matchup with the Eagles. After facing Philadelphia, the Giants will take on the Los Angeles Rams and will then get Philly at home to wrap up the regular season.
